POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs Perform construction and contractor QC of underground and/or aerial construction duties in construction of system plant.
Perform construction and contractor QC of new aerial plant including placement of strand, coax cable, splicing, activation, rough balance, and signal leakage detection and repair.
Perform construction and contractor QC installation of coax cables in open trench, including placement of conduit, pedestal, and drop cable.
Perform contractor QC on main and distribution line passive and active devices, including amplifiers; hybrid splitters; directional couplers, power combiners; and taps.
Perform contractor QC on Installation of distribution cable in conduit and ducts according to system design.
Spot and QC the Installation of 60-90 volt standby power supply according to system specs.
Able to locate and mark existing underground cables with use of cable locator
Calculates signal losses of cables, active and passive devices.
Knowledgeable in the area of system layout and strand mapping, with the ability to read and understand system maps concerning construction and repair.
Climb poles, ladders, and other structures as needed. Lifts and carries loads up to 70 lbs.; uses bucket truck when required.
Functions in various weather conditions within safety constraints.
Able to clearly communicate with builders, homeowners and contractors to insure proper system construction specs are followed.
Verify and audit all contractor associated invoicing.
Track and maintain any necessary information needed to monitor contractor productivity. Monitor contractor activities on various construction sites. Keep supervisor informed on all project progress.
Ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays
Familiar with fiber optic restoration and splicing procedures
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
Required Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent with basic knowledge and aptitude in electronics.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in pole climbing techniques and knowledge of safety standards.
Valid driver's license
Satisfactory driving record.
SCTE or NCTI or equivalent training and certification a plus.
Two years experience with CATV coaxial and fiber optic cable construction and splicing experience.
Ability to work overtime, as needed.
